Concord Dance Academy’s Competition Team is made up of over 100 dancers from over 20 New Hampshire cities and towns, ranging in age from 5 to 18. Students perform at regional dance competitions and an optional national dance competition. The team is chosen through an audition process. Dancers are selected for the competition team because of their technical and artistic abilities, their commitment and desire to learn, their positive attitudes and excellent attendance in class. The dancers compete in tap, jazz, ballet, lyrical, open, hip hop and musical theater in solos through large groups in each age range.
The Competition Team functions as both a performance group and a competitive team. Students on the Competition Team have learned the value of community service through performances at community events in the area. The students have participated in fundraisers for the Concord City Auditorium as well as the local food kitchen. The dancers learn the importance of teamwork, dedication and commitment necessary to achieve their goals.
Through competition, our dancers are exposed to several different teaching styles, new choreography and the chance to travel and perform in many different venues. Members of our competition team have developed a great work ethic and excellent time management skills. These dancers become role models to others and have routinely grown and developed both artistically and academically.
